Quality!
How you can get the correct quality as per your customers demands? and how and who will keep eyes and make sure that quality of product was as per requested? In case of India, quality largely and mostly and essentially depends upon your vendor. It is easy to get surprise that you will find different quality of products at the same vendor. I mean same type of product with different quality. This observation you can see in all over India. Let's try to understand this.
India has many classes (financially), in traditional three classes lower, middle & upper there are again many segments and layers in those classes. Indeed this is very reason that Indian are really cost sensitive. If you calculate 'cost sensitivity of demand' for given product in specific geography then only you will come to know about the how sensitive it is to cost.
This very much reason is found in all markets, all products and almost all geographies. Now you are on buying side of the this market. That you are procuring you material form Indian market. In this case you simply asked the best quality! But hold on, the best quality may & will vary vendor to vendor and places to places.
How to over come this problem is one of those reasons that Indian government is even trying to solve. Now for those products which are 'standard' such as engineering parts etc, are standard and you can find very very stiff competition within India to get best quality products. But when it comes to handcrafts, textile & those product where your customers are expecting to get what they see in the picture / Image!
